Kara Murphy scored 28 points and Jolene Tamboue added 10 but the visiting Zips (1-2) could not overcome an eight-point halftime deficit in 74-67 a loss to the Colonials (1-1).
The Zips trailed 37-29 at halftime and outscored the Colonials 38-37 in the second half, but it wasn't enough for the comeback win.
Murphy had five rebounds and five assists and Tamboue also added five assists. Rachel Tecca and Kyle Baumgartner each scored nine points and Baumgartner grabbed six rebounds.
Angela Pace scored 20 points and Bianca Hooten added 19 for the Colonials.
The Zips travel to Dayton to play Wright State on Sunday at 3 p.m.
