Alexis Cooks from the University of Akron finished in sixth place and Danniel Thomas of Kent State finished in eighth place in the finals of the women’s discus to earn All-America status Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Cooks had a toss of 181-1 and Thomas finished with a throw of 179-9. Thomas will throw in the women’s shot put Saturday.
Kent’s Matthias Tayala failed to qualify for the finals in the hammer throw Thursday.
UA’s Claire Lucas will compete this evening in the women’s pole vault and KSU’s Dior Delphont will compete in the women’s triple jump tonight as well as the women’s high jump Saturday. Reggie Jagers will compete for KSU in the men’s discus throw tonight.
University of Akron seniors Angelina Jogasuria and Prang Pantusart finished their collegiate careers ranked 43rd in the country in doubles play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s final national doubles rankings.
Jogasuria and Pantusart were the first Zips doubles team to advance to the NCAA Tournament and first Zips tandem to end the season nationally ranked. They finished with an 18-1 dual-match record and 19-2 overall.
