Akron 72, Canisius 56
Rachel Tecca (Archbishop Hoban) scored 24 points, and Hanna Luburgh added 23 points for the University of Akron women’s basketball team in a 72-56 win over Canisius on Friday at the Koessler Athletic Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Zips (3-2) trailed 30-27 at halftime, and outscored the Golden Griffins (3-2) 45-26 in the second half to rally for their first road win of the season and give coach Jodi Kest her 100th win at UA.
Tecca had 17 points in the second half and finished the game with seven rebounds, and Luburgh led the Zips with 11 rebounds.
Carly Young scored 10 points and Kacie Cassell led the Zips with eight steals.
Jamie Ruttle led the Griffins with 19 points.
