A balanced scoring attack led by Sina King helped the host University of Akron (10-14, 4-6) beat Central Michigan (12-12, 4-6) Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

King had a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season in the Mid-American Conference game.

Also reaching double figures in scoring were Kacie Cassell (eight assists), Ti’eshia Stubbs (nine rebounds) and Taylor Ruper, 16 points, and Carly Young, 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Zips had the edge in rebounds (55-50) and assists (24-14) over the Chippewas.

The Zips trailed 43-40 at halftime but scored 57 points in the second half. UA scored the only points of the game (two) on a fast break.

UA’s 97 points tied the season high set Nov. 25 against Loyola Chicago.

The Zips will host Western Michigan at 5 p.m. Saturday, with the men’s game at 7:30 against Northern Illinois.
