Eric Lauer and Andy Ravel combined to throw a no-hitter through seven innings in an 11-1 victory over Copin State on Sunday.
Lauer, a freshman, collected his second win of the season for the Golden Flashes (5-2). Offensively, the Flashes were led by Zarley Zalewski who went 4-for-5 with an RBI.
• The University of Akron fell by a score of 5-2 to Duke in the weekend finale. Akron finished the weekend 3-1 to improve to 3-3 overall. Grant Alvarez went 2-for-4 on Sunday and collected Akron’s sole RBI.
• Archbishop Hoban graduates Aaron and Kerrigan Cain as well as Barberton graduate Jordan Dague helped the Case Western Reserve baseball team to a 4-0 weekend. Kerrigan hit his first career home run and collected 6 RBI. Aaron posted a .500 on base percentage and scored six runs, and Dague hit three triples and went 7-for-19.
The University of Akron rifle team finished seven points above its average and placed second at the NCAA Qualifier. Matt Chezem was top gun and finished fourth.
