T.J. Sutton drove in four runs and Tommy Monnot and Jeff Revesz each had three RBI to lead the host Kent State baseball team to a 21-2 win over Niagara on Wednesday at Schoonover Stadium in Kent.
The Golden Flashes (19-16) scored five runs in the first inning, two in the second inning, six in the sixth inning, seven in the seventh inning and a run in the eighth to complete the two-game sweep of the Purple Eagles.
Sutton had an RBI single in the first, a sacrifice in the second and a two-run single in the sixth to lead the Golden Flashes. Monnot hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning and Revesz had an RBI double in the sixth and a two-run double in the seventh. Jason Bagoly had an RBI single in the first inning.
• Starting pitcher Joe Pusateri (1-7) gave up six runs on six hits and struck out two in 2⅔ innings and the University of Akron baseball team lost to Xavier 11-3 on Wednesday at Canal Park.
The Zips (8-26) scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to tie the score 2-2 before the Musketeers (20-15) scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead for good.
Jared Turocy, Brady Stewart and Joey Havrilak each had an RBI single for the Zips.
