The University of Akron men’s basketball team will unveil new uniforms amid a number of other unique promotions at Social Media Night Saturday.
The Zips (15-4, 6-0 MAC) will don Nike black uniforms as they host the Ohio Bobcats (15-5, 6-0) in a nationally televised game at 5 p.m. on ESPNU.
More basketball
The Mid-American Conference announced that a Feb. 16 men’s basketball game between Kent State and Ohio was selected to be nationally televised on ESPNU at 11 a.m.
When the teams met last Saturday, Ohio edged out KSU in a 69-68 nail-biter.
Football
Kent State senior left guard Josh Kline was selected to play in the Texas vs. the Nation all-star game Saturday.
Kline, who earned All-MAC Second Team honors this season, will be the first Golden Flash to compete in the game. Kline and the rest of the offensive line helped produce two 1,300-yard rushers this year.
The game can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest at 2:30 p.m.
Cross country
Kent State redshirt sophomore Paige Foster was named to the 2012 Women’s Cross Country Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team.
Kent State staff
Kent State University announced Saturday that Devin Crosby was hired as deputy athletic director.
Crosby previously worked at Towson, beginning in July, 2011, in the same role.
He will be involved in day-to-day operations while also serving as sports supervisor for football and basketball.
