University of Akron men’s golf recruit Elliot Grayson, a Shelby, N.C., native, has been selected for the 2014 Carolinas-Georgia Junior Championship on Jan. 19-20 at the Mount Vintage Plantation and Golf Club in North Augusta, S.C.

Grayson, who signed a national letter of intent with the Zips in November, will join a field of the top 20 boys golfers from the Carolina and Georgia regions in an invitation-only tournament.


Mount Union senior Joe Schindel (Archbishop Hoban) was named the OAC Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 6.

Schindel won the 165-pound title with a 4-0 record at the Citrus Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., last week. Schindel is 12-2 this season.


Walsh University senior Andrew Roy (Tallmadge) and junior Michael Dudics (Chippewa) were named to the All-Ohio Team by

Roy, a defensive lineman, finished his senior season with the Cavaliers as the team leader in tackles for loss with nine and in quarterback sacks with four.

Dudics, a mid-season replacement as kicker, made 9-of-11 field goals and went 22-of-24 in point-after-touchdown attempts this season. Dudics finished second on the team in scoring with 49 points.
