Freshman Wad Phaewchimplee became the second individual in Kent State University history to win a NCAA Regional as she finished 7 under par at the Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Phaewchimplee’s total score of 209 ties the second-best 54-hole tournament score all-time at Kent State and she is the third Kent state player to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships.

University of Akron sophomore Sierra Everson concluded the 28th PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship in 14th place on Sunday in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Everson posted a final-round score of 84 (+12) to finish with a three-day tally of 257 (+41). .
• For the second straight day, the Kent State Golden Flashes lost in walk-off fashion to Ball State, this time, losing 9-8 Sunday.
The Golden Flashes (30-20, 14-10) scored two runs in the ninth inning o increase their lead to 8-5, but the Cardinals (35-16, 19-4) came storming back with a four-run ninth to claim the victory.
• The University of Akron dropped the series to Northern Illinois University 2-0 Sunday.
The Zips (24-25, 11-13) were held to just two hits while NIU (17-33, 11-13) scored one in the first and one in the eighth on just three hits.
