The University of Akron will appear in at least eight games as part of a record-breaking Mid-American Conference television basketball package.
The Zips men’s team will first appear at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 15, when it plays Oklahoma State on ESPNU as part of the Puerto Rico Tip-off.
The men also will play four times on SportsTime Ohio: road games against Toledo (Jan. 23), Bowling Green (Jan. 30) and Ohio (Feb. 7), and at home Feb. 5 against Central Michigan. The UA women will be on STO at noon Feb. 23 at Kent State.
The MAC has 40 regional and 53 nationally televised games, surpassing last year’s 39 regional and 50 national.
Kent State is guaranteed seven TV games, beginning at noon Nov. 13 against Temple as part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-off. On Dec. 9, KSU will play Xavier in Cincinnati on Fox Sports Ohio. STO games are Jan. 16 at Buffalo, then three homes games: Jan. 26 against Ohio, Feb. 2 against Eastern Michigan and Feb. 13 against Miami. STO has the Golden Flashes as part of three possible wild-card games in March.
The KSU women will play twice: the UA game and Jan. 19 at Ball State on STO.
Golf
Angela Codian of Ohio University was named MAC Golfer of the Week. Codian, a freshman from Jackson, tied for 15th at the Nittany Lion Invitational last weekend and leads the MAC in stroke average (75.88).
