Junior Charlie Bull shot a 10-over-par 82 in the final round of the Invitational at Kiawah on Tuesday to finish tied for 13th place and lead the University of Akron to a seventh-place finish in the three-day event at the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Zips carded a 61-over-par 925 as a team and entered the event ranked No. 114 in the country.
Senior Cameron Simmons shot a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to finish tied for 27th place. Freshman Louis Birchall tied for 39th place and fellow freshmen Ryan Harris and Carr Vernon finished tied for 68th and 75th place, respectively.
Florida won the event with a three-day score of 18-over-par 882 and Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern was the top individual with a score of 4-over-par 220.
The Zips travel to Zionsville, Ind., for the Wolf Run Intercollegiate beginning on Saturday.
Volleyball
University of Akron senior Tina Dimitrijevs was named Mid-American Conference Co-East Division Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at last weekend’s Akron Invitational. Dimitrijevs was tournament MVP and led the Zips to a three-game sweep in the weekend event.
