University of Akron senior forward Rachel Tecca has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week.
Tecca (Archbishop Hoban) won the honor for the third time this season and ninth time in her career. She scored a school-record 43 points and had 22 rebounds in a win over Eastern Michigan. Tecca also became the first 2,000-point scorer in UA history.
She made all 14 of her free throws in the win over EMU, another school record.
University of Akron senior forward Demetrius Treadwell was named the MAC East Division Player of the Week.
It is the second time this season Treadwell has earned the honor.
Treadwell led the Zips to two wins, averaging 16.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots, 2 assists and 1.5 steals and shooting 46.2 percent in wins over Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.
