The University of Akron’s NCAA soccer record-setting 49-match conference unbeaten streak came to end Saturday, when the Zips lost 2-0 at home to Hartwick.
The Zips (7-3-0, 2-1-0 Mid-American Conference) outshot the Hawks (3-5-2, 1-0-0) 13-2, but the Hawks made both shots count in the 64th and 85 minutes.
Kit Tregear and Chris Walter scored for Hartwick.
Kent State opened the Schooner Fall Classic at Oklahoma with an 18-over 298, leaving the Flashes in fifth place.
Taylor Kim led Kent State with a 2-over 72, putting her in ninth place in the medalist race.
Kent State beat visiting Miami 25-21, 25-22, 28-26. Bianca Cifaldi led the Golden Flashes (8-9, 2-2 MAC) with 13 kills. Aleksandra Nowak had 29 assists and Hannah Herc had 13 digs.
