Akron 86, Rochester College 43
Hanna Luburgh and Rachel Tecca each scored 21 points, and the University of Akron women’s basketball team defeated Rochester 86-43 on Friday at Rhodes Arena.
The Zips (4-5) took a commanding 56-15 lead at halftime, and Tecca and Hannah Plybon each scored seven points in the second half to preserve the lead for the Zips.
Plybon finished with 12 points, and Tecca led the Zips with eight rebounds. Carly Young had four assists for the Zips.
The Zips shot 47.6 percent from the field and converted 19-of-30 free throws to finish over 60 percent from the line.
UA will host Youngstown State at 2 p.m. Dec. 29 in the final nonconference game of the season. The Zips begin conference play Jan. 4 at home against Ball State.
