Wright State 90, Akron 80
Despite four starters scoring in double digits, including 33 points by senior forward Rachel Tecca, the University of Akron Zips (2-2) fell to Wright State University (3-1) 90-80 on Sunday afternoon in Dayton.
Tecca recorded her second double-double by halftime and finished with 15 rebounds to go with her 33 points.
Fellow senior foward Carly Young contributed a double-double of her own as she finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Hanna Luburgh and freshman guard Hannah Plybon were the other two Zips with double-digit scoring figures with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
Despite trailing 43-40 at halftime, Akron took a 48-44 lead just two minutes into the second half. However, the Raiders rattled off 13 unanswered points to take a lead they did not relinquish.
The Zips continue their five-game road trip as they travel to Buffalo to take on Canisius on Friday.
