Zips women beat George Mason

Senior forward Carly Young scored 19 of her 26 points in the second half as the Zips (4-4) cruised to an 88-70 home victory over George Mason.

Young finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds, both high marks for the Zips. Seven of her 12 rebounds were on offense.

The Zips led by just five at halftime, 34-29, but Young’s big second half helped them secure the victory.

Hanna Luburgh paced the Zips in the first half with eight points. She finished with 22.

Rachel Tecca added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Zips.

The Zips were very efficient from the field, shooting 50 percent (35-70) including going 9-of-23 from the 3-point line.

Taylor Brown led the Patriots (5-5) with 15 points and six assists.
