The University of Akron women’s tennis team opened the home portion of its schedule on Saturday with a 6-1 win over Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a 7-0 victory over Wright State indoors at LaTuchie Tennis Center. The Zips’ record improved to 4-0 in dual matches.

Against IUPUI (1-6), the Zips were winners in the first set at each singles spot, but the Jaguars earned second-set wins at the No. 3 and 5 positions. At No. 3, UA’s Angelika Jogasuria won 6-1, 6-7 (3), 10-5, while IUPUI’s Abbey Neff claimed her team’s lone point of the day at No. 5 with a 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 win over Natalia Kuvakina.

In the match against Wright State (0-4), UA claimed a hard-earned doubles point with twins Angelika and Angelina Jogasuria winning 9-7 at the No. 1 spot, while Ksenia Berestetska and Olga Shkundina took a 9-8 (2) decision at No. 3.
