Akron Zoo — Winter hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, 500 Edgewood Ave. The Akron Zoo will host Cabin Fever Reliever 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Saturday in January with free craft stations for kids and free hot chocolate for all guests. The events will be themed around the construction that is taking place at the zoo for the opening of the Mike & Mary Stark Grizzly Ridge exhibit, which will open this summer. Visitors will be allowed to feed the penguins 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Feb. 28 when temperatures are 55 or below. Tickets are $3. Winter admission: $6. 330-375-2550.

Throughout January, whenever the day’s predicted high temperature is 32 degrees or below, a Polar Bear Day will be declared and admission will be $4.25, $2.75 for ages 2-11.
