PENINSULA—The seventh “An Evening for Chuck”, an evening of music, raffles, and food, benefiting Stewart’s Caring Place, will take place at the G.A.R. Hall in Peninsula on Saturday, October 5.

An Evening for Chuck was founded in 2006 by locally-based singer/songwriter, ZACH, when his father, Chuck Freidhof, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Zach chose to turn a personal tragedy into an opportunity to help others with cancer, creating a benefit event to raise funds for various cancer assistance organizations.

This year, An Evening for Chuck partners with Stewart’s Caring Place, which provides support services to individuals and families affected by cancer.

Because of Zach’s history of work with An Evening for Chuck, as well as co-founding the Akron Peace Project and volunteering for many other causes, Zach was named Akron Life & Leisure Magazine’s 2013 Humanitarian of the Year.

An Evening for Chuck always gathers some of the area’s best artists for an evening of entertainment because Chuck left a mark on the Greater Akron area not only as a successful businessman, but also as Zach’s manager and soundman, and as a mentor to many in the local arts community.

Entertainment throughout the evening will feature Colin John, Rachel Roberts, The Poplars, and Light of the Loon. Zach and the Bright Lights will headline the event.

This year’s event is also part of Akron Peace Week, and will include brief interludes of meditation, talks about health, and information from Stewart’s Caring Place.

Several prizes donated by Greater Akron businesses will also be raffled off, including a basket from Century Cycles, area yoga studios, and items from local artists and jewelry designers. An Evening for Chuck is sponsored by WAPS 91.3 The Summit and the G.A.R. Hall.

An Evening for Chuck takes place Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the G.A.R. Hall (1785 Main Street, Route 303, Peninsula), 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. $5 donation at the door benefits Stewart’s Caring Place.
