Have you met "Mr. Uniontown?" Do you know the history of Uniontown?

Bruce and Jo Heisler, long time residents of Lake Township will be honored on October 12th at the Grace United Church of Christ at 13275 Cleveland Ave. NW, Uniontown.

Bruce and Jo attended Uniontown High School graduating in 1950 and Jo in 1953. Bruce penned a book about growing up in Uniontown and The Lake Township Historical Society has published the 64 page book. The book will be available for purchase on October 12th at "Bruce Heisler Day."

In the book, Bruce takes the reader on a virtual walk through Uniontown during the 1940s and 1950s starting at the Bluebird Drive-in movie theater walking north alongside the interurban tracks into the square. He reminisces about the Halloween pranks and the youths gathering on the square surrounded by woods full of game and farmer's fields.

The book contains pictures from his large personal collection and some taken of the buildings as they are today. Sales of the book will support The Lake township Historical Society.

Please join us in celebrating Bruce and Jo's lives as we thank them for helping create a wonderful community.

Ice cream and cake will be served at the free event.
