Frogtown Storytelling Guild Tellabration! 2012 Concert

Featuring Ann Arbor, Michigan Storyteller Jeff Doyle

On Friday, November 9, 2012 Frogtown Storytelling Guild will celebrate its 12th year of Tellabration!—a spoken-word concert of “stories for grown-ups”—with featured Ann Arbor, Michigan storyteller Jeff Doyle. Tellabration! producer Glenda Miller remarks, “Our local talent is excited to team up with featured teller Jeff Doyle for a wonderful evening of funny, poignant and thought-provoking stories. Our Tellabration! draws some of the largest crowds in the region's storytelling circles.” The concert will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Maumee Indoor Theater, 601 Conant St, Maumee, OH 43537.

Jeff Doyle began telling stories to entertain his kids around the campfire at family campouts. His first story was The Blue Ape, which the kids asked to hear again and again. Before long, they were requesting new material and Jeff eagerly took to the task. In 2004, he joined the Ann Arbor Storytellers’ Guild (Ann Arbor, MI) and his passion for developing and refining his art of storytelling has since intensified. Jeff enjoys telling all types of tales, but admittedly has a soft spot for scary stories, from the mildly scary to the truly terrifying. Whether he is telling a humorous story, a scary story, a story with a surprise twist, or a story that combines all three elements, Jeff is ardently dedicated to entertaining an audience and making sure they are having fun.

In 1988, the first Tellabration! concerts were performed at six locations in the state of Connecticut. J. G. Pinkerton, the originator of Tellabration!, envisioned the event as a way of fostering and maintaining the art of storytelling. It was a great success and in the following year Tellabration! concerts soon spread to other states. In 1990, Tellabration! became a national event with the help of the National Storytelling Association. Its popularity continues to spread and now thousands of storytelling groups worldwide produce Tellabration! concerts.

The sponsors of Toledo’s Tellabration! 2012 are the Frogtown Storytelling Guild and the Cardone Financial Group. Sharing the spotlight with Jeff Doyle will be talented members of the Frogtown Storytelling Guild, which consists of Dave Davis, Marion Hallauer, Pat Lora, Glenda Miller, Tari Miller, Michael Moore, Regina Patrick, Odessa Rowan, Ken Solo, and Ken Wielfaert. The stories of the Frogtown Storytelling Guild members span the oral tradition: folktales, wisdom tales, legends, romantic sagas, humorous accounts, and personal narratives that explore the richness of the human condition. As Frogtown Storytelling Guild President Odessa Rowan states, “Plan to join the FrogTown storytellers and Jeff Doyle for an evening of creative entertainment.”
