Hoban Football Players get Moving!
What does the Archbishop Hoban football team do in the off season? Traditionally, they’ve been in the weight room and on the track. This year, they added “moving furniture” to the work out. It all started when one of the players’ Moms, Robin Rothenbeucher, heard of a need at The Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties. The Shelter recently took over a closed nursing facility. The building’s bones were great, but the inside needed some help. Robin, saw this as an opportunity for the Hoban players to give back to the community. As a non profit, The Battered Women’s Shelter work’s on a shoestring budget, so when Robin suggested the Hoban players could help, Teri Heckman, Director of TBWS, jumped at the opportunity.
For the last two weeks, team members have met at the Shelter, (after working out) for 4-5 hours each day. Robin noted “…the boys loaded 5000 lbs of metal into the dumpster last week and today they are finishing the last 3000 lbs.” .
