As many as one in five eligible workers will miss out on claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) each year, according to estimates by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). As a result, these taxpayers could end up missing out on this tax credit worth as much as $6,044 on their federal income tax returns.
Fortunately, eligible working families here in Summit County are able to access tax preparation assistance at no cost provided by IRS –certified volunteers at Akron Summit Community Action, Inc. throughout the tax season. The trained and IRS-certified volunteers will help determine EITC eligibility, prepare returns and ensure taxpayers receive the full amount for which they qualify.
The Akron Summit Community Action Inc. Earned Income Tax Credit Program will also host 3 more “Super Saturdays” where no appointment is necessary. The Super Saturday dates and times are as follows:
