Requesting Nominations From General Public Names of Coaches, Administrators, Players, or Supporters Who Have Been Instrumental in Promoting NE Ohio Baseball

AKRON, OHIO (January 29, 2013) — The board of directors for the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the next induction ceremony into the Hall of Fame.

The board is requesting that nominees should be persons who have made meaningful contributions to local baseball programs, such as players, coaches, managers, sponsors, umpires and/or administrators. The Greater Akron area is defined as the City of Akron and the following counties: Summit, Portage, Wayne, Medina, and Stark. Those who do not live in the greater Akron area but have significant accomplishments in the area’s baseball programs will also be considered.

The deadline for submitting nominations is February 25, 2013. Those interested may do so online at, or by contacting the Hall’s office at 330.603.8752 and request a nomination form to be mailed to them. The annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for July 14, 2013.

ABOUT THE GREATER AKRON BASEBALL HALL OF FAME: The Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame is an organized body established to recognize and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the game of baseball in the Greater Akron area. (Individuals shall have made contributions as players, coaches, managers, sponsors, umpires and administrators.) The GABHoF is dedicated to the recognition of baseball excellence, support for and promotion of the game and assistance at all levels of baseball in the Greater Akron Area, including the preservation of ethics, high standards and integrity of the game of baseball. The Hall of Fame shall seek to help promote and assist amateur and youth baseball programs in the Greater Akron Area.

Currently, the Hall of Fame resides in Canal Park, home of the Akron Aeros.
