Akron, Ohio “Nursing Assistants provide as much as 90% of the hands on care in this country.
For many, this is a lifelong mission,” said Genevieve Gipson, Director of the National Network
of Career Nursing Assistants. “The Annual Nursing Assistants’ Week is a special time to
recognize and honor this important health care worker.”
The National Network of Career Nursing Assistants (NNCNA) has announced that the
36th Annual National Nursing Assistants Week will take place from June 13-20, 2013. The
theme for 2013 is “Nursing Assistants @ the Heart of Caring.”
As a part of this nationwide observance, the Ohio Career Nurse Assistants Programs will be
honoring area nursing assistants from nursing homes, home care, hospitals, assisted living and
other long term care settings at our annual conference and recognition event.
The Ohio 36th Annual Nursing Assistant Recognition Convention will be held on June 13, 2013, 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM at Akron General Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Center, 4125 W. Market Street, Akron, Ohio.
Change is everywhere in health care and the nursing assistants and other direct care workers are being called on as never before to develop new roles and new goals for Person Centered Care. Safety Committees remain in the spot light to foster Safe Patient Handling and decrease worker and resident injury.
Special features include: the Nursing Assistant Authors awards, the Male NA Task Force; Nursing Assistants in the News; Authors, Posters and Songs Awards, Sunshine award; good food, displays, 5 ½ inservices hours, door prizes
Recognition also will be given to nursing assistants who have provided 2, 5, 10, 15, and 20 or more years of service. Nursing assistants who have fewer than 2 years of service will participate in the New NA event, “Walk in My Shoes” sponsored by the Twenty Year Club.
A special “Wisdom Keepers” tribute will be presented to the nursing assistant who has the “Most Service Years.” The NA is still to be determined and additional info will be sent when it is available.
To be a Gold or Silver sponsor, email us at cnajeni.com. To Sponsor a Nursing Assistant for the Convention Day ONLY, cost is $75.00 and an Individual NA cost is $35.00. Registration is necessary to attend the 1-day Convention at the Wellness Center by calling 330.825.9342.
*NOTE: Photos are requested of the presentation of the “Wisdom Keepers (Most Years Service) Award” and Author’s (essay) contest winners. An appropriate time for this photograph would be about 12:45- 1:00 PM, although the 2:15 PM Session on wheelchair positioning also offers some good opportunities for photos.
