Participants Ride One Minute to Honor Every Fallen Hero Since the 9/11 Attacks
AKRON, OHIO (Feb, 23 2014) – Pedal For Heroes USA, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing support for veterans’ and their families, holds third annual Pedal for Heroes: Remembrance Ride to honor fallen Ohio soldiers.
The Remembrance Ride raises awareness and honors our fallen heroes. Participants ride a stationary bike for one minute for each military personnel from their state who has fallen in the Middle East since September 11, 2001. This year Ohioans will ride for 274 minutes remembering those military personnel who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
“The Pedal for Heroes: Remembrance Ride event honors the military personnel whom have lost their lives and supports local veterans programs while engaging in physical activity,” said Cassie Schumacher, co-founder of Pedal for Heroes. “Ohio veterans have given so much for us. This is an opportunity to help local veterans and support their efforts to transition back into the community.”
The Remembrance Ride will take place at fitness clubs throughout the country with the main event held in Hudson, Ohio at LifeCenter Plus. Seven other locations have also accepted the challenge:

• Snap Fitness - Streetsboro, Ohio at 1 pm on February 23, 2014
• Kent State Student Recreation and Wellness Center - Kent, Ohio at 12:30 pm on February 23, 2014
• Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium - Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio at 12 pm on February 23, 2014
• Snap Fitness Kent - Kent, Ohio at 10 pm on February 23, 2014
• Snap Fitness Twinsburg – Twinsburg, Ohio at 1 pm on February 23, 2014
The entry fee for the Remembrance Ride is $25 and participants and teams are encouraged to fundraise and Pedal for Heroes will use the money raised to help local veterans successfully reintegrate into their local communities and provide military families with resources to address post-war problems. New this year will be the unveiling of the Fallen Soldier Memorial created by local Iraq War veteran, Zack Gillespie, to honor his 274 fallen comrades who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
