Introducing ‘Raven Geospatial Labs’, a small group of folks based out of Ohio who
are passionate about Mobile Computing and Location Based Services.
They have recently published a productivity app. called ‘Ohio Motorist’ (OM) for the Android platform.
The app. intends is to arm folks with real-time data on their mobile smart-device, before they set
out on their daily commute.
To accomplish this, it gathers the user’s physical location from the GPS sensor on their smart-phone.
It then queries Ohio DOT’s ‘Buckeye Traffic’ system for real-time data, and presents the same to the user
based on their proximity to the information reported.
The app. reports live feeds from over 300 traffic cameras statewide, in addition to detailed information
about scheduled road-works, and incident related alerts that are crowd sourced from Twitter users.
