Springfield's Rock the Docs takes place this weekend

UPublish story by Jerry Michael

In addition to great food, awesome rides and a magnificent fireworks display, Rock the Docks has several new additions this year!

Saturday morning the Springfield Fire Department is sponsoring a free pancake breakfast from 8:30 - 11 a.m. with donations benefiting the Springfield High School French class who are working hard to raise money for their trip to Europe next summer. Afterwards the Boy Scouts of America are providing a Mining Station and Monkey Bridge as well as a drip art craft to help kick off the fun. We are promoting Sunday as 'Family Day' and will be offering a $3 discount for ride tickets with the donation of 2 canned goods per ticket which will go to support the Akron Food Bank. Home Depot will be providing a kids craft at the gazebo in the morning and Wing Warehouse is sponsoring a wing eating contest!

We've once again place a lot of emphasis on community involvement and T's-n-Things will be selling this year's shirt designed by Hannah Hensley, a graphics arts student at Portage Lakes Career Center. Our coloring contest design was created by Noah Hutchinson and Giant Eagle will be coordinating the details. First Student has once again stepped up to provide a shuttle service from Tri-County Plaza and Gala Commons and our dunking booth will again be sponsored by Quick Clean Car & Pet Wash which will serve as a fundraiser for various groups. Outback Ray will entertain everyone with his exotic animals both Saturday & Sunday thanks to J&B Automotive And of course, we couldn't survive without our corporate sponsors Wayside Furniture, First Energy & Tractor Supply.
