Sustainable Landscape Designers to Speak at GAINS Meeting

UPublish story by Salsbury-Schweyer, Inc

(Akron, Ohio) Nationally-acclaimed, Akron-based landscape designers, Samuel L. Salsbury, FAPLD, and Sabrena Schweyer, FAPLD, will be sharing their expertise in sustainable landscapes and permaculture at the monthly GAINS meeting on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 starting at 5:30pm. Their firm, Salsbury-Schweyer, Inc, has long been known as a leader in education and design of sustainable landscapes.

Sustainable landscaping is a timely topic, especially with the challenges now faced by Akron and cities across the country: combined sewer overflows, food deserts, biodiversity decline, and much more. Salsbury & Schweyer will address how redesigning our landscapes sustainably can not only help solve these problems, but can provide healthier, beautiful, safer environments for our families.

GAINS (The Greater Akron Innovation Network for Sustainability) was started in June 2012 by a group of active and passionate local business owners and community members who knew each other through the now dismantled organization, Entrepreneurs for Sustainability (E4S). The GAINS mission is to build awareness and demand, stimulate the economy, create jobs, and educate business professionals and consumers on sustainability for community.

This event is free and open to the public, and is being held at Uncorked Wine Bar in downtown Akron, 22 N High St, Akron, OH 44308. Networking begins at 5:30pm. The program starts at 6:15pm. Anyone interested in sustainability is encouraged to become involved with GAINS and help grow this important network.
