Daddy Daughter Dance – February 4, 2012; 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Father and daughter bonds are monumental! Strengthen these bonds by catering to your little girl at the 10th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance. Let her know that she is a princess and begin laying the foundation of how she should be treated later in life when she grows to womanhood. Cultivating a strong relationship between you and your daughter is the most rewarding and significant part of fatherhood. The event will feature a professional DJ and photographer, party games, crafts and light refreshments. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the Massillon Recreation Center until Wednesday, February 1.
American Red Cross Babysitter’s Class – February 11, 2012; 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
As an American Red Cross Certified Babysitter, you will have a unique opportunity to help your family, friends and community. This 7 hour Babysitter’s training course gives 11 to 15 year olds the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Through hands on activities, interactive video and lively discussions, the course teaches young people to respond to emergencies and illness with first aid, make decisions under pressure, and much more. The cost is $45. Registration ends February 3.
Cabin Fever Day – February 18, 2012; Noon- 5 p.m.
Cabin Fever is described as, extreme irritability and restlessness from living in isolation or a confined indoor area for a prolonged time by Merriam Webster.
Does that describe how you’re feeling? Well, do we have a cure for you! Winter is in full swing, but that does not have to stop your family from having a little summer-style fun. Bring your family to the Massillon Recreation Center to enjoy the pool, volleyball, summertime games and more. Parents must accompany children to the event. The cost is $5. No registration necessary.
Sporties Gym & Swim classes begin - February 13, 2012; 10 a.m. – 10:45 p.m.
Get the best of our most popular preschool classes in one! In this four week course, your preschooler will learn sports skills and learn to swim in this class that combines our Sporties 4 Shorties class and our Learn to Swim program. This class teaches your child motor and social skills and basic swimming skills in a fun-oriented atmosphere. Classes are held twice a week and will include 30 minutes of instruction and 15 minutes of free swim or play each class. The cost of this class is $25 for members, $28 for taxpayers, and $35 for non-taxpayers. Registration ends February 9.
Mommy & Me Dance – March 10, 2012; 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Mom and sons there’s a dance for you too! Please join us for a memorable event at the Mommy and Me Dance! Moms, dance the night away with your sons and create memories that last a lifetime. Look forward to grooving to the sounds of a professional DJ. A keepsake photograph will be provided. The cost is $10 per person. Registration ends March 7.
Parent & Tot Free Time – Every Thursday; 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
We’ve got all the cool toddler toys set up just for you and your 2 – 4 year-old. Enjoy tumbling mats, balls, trucks slides and more! This program is FREE for Massillon Recreation Center members. Non-members can buy a $6 day pass
Home School Open Gym: Dodgeball/Kickball - February 8 2012; 12:45 p.m. -2:30 p.m.
Join this instructor-led program to learn sports skills and fitness fundamentals in a fun
oriented atmosphere! Each day begins with a 1/2 mile warm up run. Parents can pay to participate in class or workout on their own. Come as often as you like. No pre-registration required.
