Medina, Ohio, April 1, 2014 – The Trinity Rose Foundation announces that its sixth annual Bowling for Blindness event will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 2:00-4:30PM at AMF Medina Lanes, 201 Harding Street, Medina.
Not only does the event help deserving families in the community, it helps spread awareness among the 100+ bowlers that attend by experiencing what it is like to be visually impaired or acting as a guide for someone who is. Bowlers of all ages will play two games under the Scotch Doubles format (where partners alternate rolls) with a fun twist – one of the partners will bowl blindfolded while their partner serves as their guide. The cost is $40 per team which includes bowling, shoe rental and refreshments. The event will include prizes for the top three teams as well as a 50/50 raffle. Sponsorships starting as low as $50 are also available.
This year’s proceeds will benefit students from Medina and surrounding counties served by the UDS Low Vision Services to help purchase low vision aids or glasses recommended by the clinic. Dr. Cheryl Reed, Director of UDS low Vision Services, commented that due to changes in funding for her clinic, this could not have come at a better time. Often times the school district or the families cannot afford the aids that will help the child function fully in the classroom and at home. The proceeds from this event will help make the recommendations a reality.
