Valentine's Dinner Dance Inspired by "Downton Abbey" will benefit Western Reserve PBS

UPublish story by Diane Steinert, Communications Coordinator, Western Reserve PBS

Western Reserve PBS will host A Downton Abbey Evening Valentine's Dinner Dance on Friday, Feb. 14.

Northeast Ohio is in for an evening fit for the British aristocracy when Western Reserve PBS hosts a Valentine's Day dinner-dance inspired by the wildly popular Masterpiece Classic program "Downton Abbey," which is currently airing on the station. The charitable event will be held Friday, Feb. 14, beginning at 6 p.m. at Sheraton Suites Akron-Cuyahoga Falls and will include a five-course Edwardian feast, a live dance performance and instruction, dancing to live music and a silent auction. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the attire of the 1920s era.

"We are so excited to host this outstanding event that celebrates 'Downton Abbey' and Valentine's Day," said Toni Kayumi, chief development and communications officer at Western Reserve Public Media. "Attendees will enjoy a fabulous multi-course meal that would make Mrs. Patmore beam, followed by a dance performance by Akron's Martell School of Dance. The dancers will then invite those who are interested to receive basic waltz instruction, just in time for the live music to begin." Kayumi said the evening's musical selections, provided by The Kool Nights Band, will progress through the decades during the evening. A silent auction will also be held during the event.

Dinner-for-two packages begin at $250, which includes a one-year membership to Western Reserve PBS. Additional packages are available that include wine pairings, overnight accommodations at the Sheraton and breakfast. Single dinner packages beginning at $125 also are available. For more information about reservation levels and the full dinner menu, visit or call 1-800-554-4549. Sheraton Suites Akron-Cuyahoga Falls is located at 1989 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls.
