Mojoflo Releases Old-School Record
Sam Cooke said, “Change gone come”, and for the band Mojoflo change has been good. After two years filled with touring, turbulence, and personnel changes the group is re-emerging stronger than ever with their new EP “Right On!”. From the opening horn blast to the closing hits this uptempo romp captures a funky-ferocity, an ode to the classic soul records of the 60’s and 70’s.
From recording everything straight to tape, to releasing the EP on an actual vinyl LP Mojoflo has concocted a record that fans of Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, and James Brown will find familiar sonic territory all around.
“This is music that we all love and we’ve all grown up with,” says saxophonist Walter K, “These records are part of who we are as musicians and performers, so for us it was only natural to want to explore this type of sound”.
The band will be touring in support of the record January through April of 2014. Mojoflo will be doing an Akron release on January 11th at Musica. If you’re a fan of old-school soul music, this is an act you won’t want to miss!
