Queen of Diamonds Fastpitch Showcase Selects Three Players From Northeast Ohio Team
Allison DeLooze (Sr., West Geauga HS), Stacey Kovacic (Sr., Chardon HS), and Jess Stone (Sr., Solon HS) were recently selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South (QDSS), at Winthrop University, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The showcase will be held over the Labor Day weekend.
The QDSS, now in its 7th season, is part of the Queen of Diamonds Showcase events, which are the largest fastpitch softball showcases of their kind in the U.S. This event attracts athletes from 30+ states and 2 Canadian Provinces. The showcase is unique as athletes actually 'apply to' this event individually and are selected based on many criteria, including ability, potential, academics, and coaches' referrals. Of the nearly 2,000 applicants each year, 200+ players are selected to compete.
Allison (pitcher), Stacey (catcher), and Jess (center fielder) recently completed a very successful summer tournament season, as teammates on the Ohio Hurricanes 16U Black team, under head coach Bruno Biello. All three are outstanding students, as well as athletes, and are planning to continue their playing careers in college.
