The Wayne County Athletic League (WCAL) has approved a $1 increase in ticket prices for all sporting events beginning this fall. Adult tickets will be raised from $5 to $6 per contest— the first increase in more than a decade. The price for student tickets, which have not been raised since 1995, remains at $3.
The WCAL’s governing body cited rising costs for officials and equipment as the primary reason for the increase in ticket prices. Fans are advised to check with their home schools for ticket-plan packages.
“The last increase in ticket prices was 2000,” said Chuck Long, league secretary. “We are confident that our fans will understand the reasons for the new price structure, and we know that they will continue to support the more than 1,000 student-athletes at our eight member schools.”
