Kavitha Bagavandoss, a Kent State University economics major and Kristen Gromes, a University of Mount Union mechanical engineering and art major are the lucky students who each received a $1000 scholarship that will help them to acheive their academic goals.
The Canton Small Business Development Center has been awarding deserving students with scholarships for the last three years. These scholarships are given to students who are pursuing degrees in business, finance and economics. The SBDC has a mission to help small business owners and entrepreneurs in the area. They focus on fostering economic development throughout Stark county.
Bagavandoss has goals to attend Harvard University in order to earn a master's degree in finance. She hopes to one day have a career in venture capitalism. Gromes hopes to pursue a master's degree in mechanical engineering or bio-medical engineering.
Applications for the SBDC's 2014 - 2015 scholarships are currently being accepted through May 1, 2014. For more information on the Canton Small Business Development Center, please visist www.cantonsbdc.org. You may go to www.starkcf.org/scholarships.asp for an application.
