Sheila Rayman was hired as assistant city engineer earlier this month, the Stow Sentry reports.
She has nearly 20-years of experience in civil engineering and will make $35.76 per hour.
Aiding in the redevelopment at Stow-Kent Shopping Center and stormwater improvements at Fox Den Golf Course are two projects at the top of Rayman’s to-do list.
City Engineer Jim McCleary told the Sentry that someone with Rayman’s experience is a welcome addition to the department, which seen serious reductions recently. Since April, there have only been four employees working in the Engineering Department, which started with nine a little more than a year ago.
"Two engineers with 35 years experience retired, two engineers found employment elsewhere, and one inspector switched departments,” McCleary told the Sentry. “After nine-and-a-half months of a reduced staff, Sheila is the first replacement and will concentrate on water and stormwater projects. It's a good start on rebuilding the engineering department."
