Conservative media.....which, outside of the blogs and one or two radio and teevee programs, is the entire media......realize that Americans are either uninterested in political details or are too dumb to comprehend any of it. So, conservative media don't try to fight the current, they roll with it.
Because Big Money controls our government and elections and, then, graciously writes our laws for us too....so our elected officials can busy themselves raising more money from...Big Money.....Americans are constantly being bombarded, carpet bombed actually, with lies, deception and propaganda. Politicians call it "messaging." Others, like The Reverend, call it humanoid programming.
Many examples to choose from to illustrate the point.....but let's take this recent one...
From 2007 to 2011, the phrase “job-killing regulations” underwent a 17,550% increase in usage in U.S. newspapers (from just four appearances in 2007 to over seven hundred in 2011)
The deregulation of the paper shuffling industries of insurance, brokerages and banks went into effect in 2000. Seven years later that same deregulated industry came within an eyelash of destroying the economy of the richest nation ever to grace the globe. The deregulation of very powerful banks cost the nation millions of jobs....millions. The deregulation of banks, insurance and real estate skimmers not only resulted in millions of lost jobs, but also millions of foreclosed homes, millions of Americans losing health insurance and millions losing hope in a system proven to be rigged for the top 1%.
None of that has been a secret, even though corporate media rarely explains any of this in comprehensible ways. Instead, what media, in this specific case, newspapers, do....is repeat the "messaging" of those who would propagandize and mislead American voters.
Despite the fact that regulations have proven to actually create jobs....the role of media, because they are the agents of the rich and powerful, over the last four years has been to deceive Americans into believing just the opposite.
Newspapers.....not Fox. Newspapers....not El Rushbo. In 2011.....newspapers used the phrase "job-killing regulations" in their articles 17 1/2 thousand times more often than they had in 2007. Seventeen thousand, five hundred percent more.
That repetition.....by newspapers....eventually seeps into the psyche and settles there like a permanent virus that can't be shaken. Even though government regulations have not been proven to destroy jobs.....writing the phrase "job-killing regulations" in 17 1/2 thousand percent more often in newspaper articles in 2011 than in 2007.....eventually works like subliminal brain programming. The lie is hard to resist.....even if you know it's a lie....because of how often you read or hear the exact same "message."
My advice to Americans is to never believe anything you read, hear or see coming from corporate media sources. For economic and access reasons, corporate media now defends the powerful and the rich from critical attacks from the unwashed. It used to be the other way around. Journalism used to protect the people from the powerful and the rich.....but no more.
Your starting point after reading or hearing a "news" account should be to doubt, to be skeptical. Americans would be more informed...yes, more informed...if they avoided all corporate media sources altogether....as has been proven with Fox viewers, for example. But, I realize that will never happen because convenience and ease are always the preferable choices for most people.
And so, our citizens will continue to be led down the path of the pod-people......minds successfully remodeled with permanent ear worm "messages" of untruth.....and the slow, degradation of the U.S. Empire will continue.
