On Nov. 5 Stow residents will have the chance to make a decision on a possible tax rate increase, reports the Stow Sentry. Police Chief Louis Dirker hopes Issue 16, which includes a raise in income tax by .25 percent, will pass in order to supply an increase in revenue for local law enforcement.†

Dirkerís main concern is the safety of the residents and he argues that passage of this issue will allow the police force to be more proactive in the community.† He explains, ďitís about [handling] more than one emergency at a time and getting patrols up and response times down.Ē

Issue 16 was the result of a School Safety Task Force that was initiated after the Connecticut school shootings last year.
