CUYAHOGA FALLS:  The next Cuyahoga Falls Neighborhood Excellence Initiative meeting is set from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday  APRIL 3 at Rocco's Pizza party room, 1053 Portage Trail.

Wednesday's meeting is open to all residents, regardless of where they live.

The  Initiative was started by Ward One resident Heather Shaw and Ward Six councilman Don Walters.

Its purpose is to  empower residents through neighborhood watch programs and legislation. The Initiative is a pro-active way to address crime and housing violations.

Walters' plan is to have meetings in each ward to introduce the program.

About 35 Ward One  residents attended the March meeting at Preston Elementary School.

Ward Five councilman Paul Colavecchio has scheduled a Neighborhood Excellence Initiative meeting for his ward April 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Fire Station Five, 3497 Wyoga Lake Road.

If firefighters are available, there will be a tour of the station and dispatch center.
