Summit County’s jobless rate fell to 7.3 percent in December from 7.4 percent in November, according to state figures released Tuesday.


The county jobless rate a year ago was 9 percent.


Akron had an unemployment rate of 8 percent last month, down from 8.1 percent in November. The city’s rate was 9.5 percent in December 2010.


Cuyahoga Falls had a jobless rate of 7 percent in December, down from 7.1 percent in November. The city had an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent a year ago.


Ohio’s comparable unemployment rate in December was 7.6 percent.


The state, county and city rates released Tuesday were not adjusted to take into account seasonal factors. Ohio’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in December was 8.1 percent.


The state said unemployment rates increased in 51 of the Ohio’s 88 counties. Jobless rates ranged from a low of 4.9 percent in Mercer County to a high of 14.3 percent in Pike County.
