The Akron Beacon Journal has a new marketing director, newspaper veteran Nikki Hawk.
Hawk succeeds Christine Sabo, who is leaving to raise her three small children and to operate Silver Run Vineyard & Winery, which she and her husband, Ed Sunkin, founded in Doylestown.
“We have restructured the marketing team for our company with a group that I am sure will maximize the opportunities for our company,” Alton Brown, executive vice president and general manager, said in a statement.
Rachelle Albrechta was promoted to community relations/Newspaper In Education manager. Sue Lindeman was named the paper’s marketing coordinator. Kathy Kochanski joins the team and will continue as the paper’s advertorial writer.
Hawk, 41, who was circulation marketing manager, will lead the revamped marketing team. She is a Doylestown native who lives in Wadsworth with her husband, Steve; daughter, Hannah; and stepson, Sean.
Hawk, a University of Akron graduate, joined the Beacon Journal in 1999 as an advertising assistant.
