Metisentry, an Akron-based web development firm, announced in a news release that it has acquired the Missouri-based WillCo Technologies, a company that serves as the largest credentials management software provider to the U.S. Department of Defense.

WillCo’s Kansas City office will serve as a new location for Metisentry and all employees will be retained, the release said.

WillCo provides service for more than 1.5 million users through its Information Assurance Strategic Tracking and Reporting (IASTAR) online software.

The U.S. Army uses a customized version of the IASTAR software as its sole information assurance compliance program for a Department of Defense directive.

Metisentry’s specialties include “software as a service” (SaaS) product development, utilizing cloud hosting and software development.

“WillCo has an excellent growing SaaS product and we know that with the added capabilities at Metisentry, we can take the product, customer service and overall client experience to the next level,” said Mike Fischer, Metisentry’s CEO, in the release. “We now have everything under one roof, in terms of the ability to make current and future clients happy.”

The current owner of WillCo Technologies, Kevin Williams, will continue in his role to help further growth initiatives, the release said.
