The Welty Family Foundation awarded $250,750 in grants to Akron-area nonprofits at its mid-year 2015 meeting.
Four organizations — Boys and Girls Club of the Western Reserve, Community Drug Board, Goodwill Industries of Akron and Truly Reaching You Ministries — each received $10,000, the largest sum awarded in this round of funding.
The foundation was established in 1999 by Jerry and Emily Welty to benefit community initiatives in arts and culture, civics, education, environment, health-care, housing, social services, medical research and youth development.
Grant applications are being accepted through Nov. 2, for the foundation’s December distribution meeting.
