Cuyahoga prosecutor seeks vacation of former Akron police chief’s guilty plea. Reported by Stephanie War Smith. In light of a civil lawsuit former Akron Police Chief James Nice filed Tuesday, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office is asking that Nice’s guilty plea in his criminal case be vacated and that the case proceed to trial. Nice pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation in February for misusing a government computer. He also was ordered to surrender his Ohio Peace Officer Training Certification, which made him ineligible to work as a police officer in Ohio.
