Akron Pops Orchestra — Seeking musicians, especially strings and keyboards, for the volunteer orchestra. Akron Symphony Chorus — Ongoing auditions by appointment. Sopranos and men needed. Prepare a short solo piece of your choice in any language and bring a copy of the music for the pianist. Be prepared to demonstrate the full extent of your vocal range and sight read. Baldwin Wallace University Men’s Chorus — Seeking new members (college students and men from the community) to perform five concerts, sing the national anthem at an Indians game, and sing a live performance on WCLV (104.9-FM) during the 2015-2016 season (late August to early May). Auditions are 5-10 p.m. Monday by appointment at Boesel Musical Arts Center, 49 Seminary St., Berea. Email director Frank Bianchi at fbianchi@bw.edu. Prepare a classical (art) song or Broadway piece that best shows off your vocal range (accompanist provided). The audition will include vocalizing, pitch matching, and sight reading. City of Akron — Seeking gospel talent for its fourth annual Gospel Sundays series to be held at Lock 4 in downtown Akron from 7 to 9 p.m. Sundays July 26-Aug. 30. Anyone that has a church choir, chorus, praise/worship group or gospel band is invited to apply to perform on one of six Sundays in July and August. Also, Akron is seeking single/solo and group performers to be a part an addition to the city’s gospel presentations called Gospel Tracks. Gospel singers, other than choirs and choruses, who sing to recorded music tracks, will have an opportunity to perform in a public setting. Last year, Akron had one Sunday dedicated to this form of gospel expression, which may be expanded to two dates depending on interest.
