Akron Pops Orchestra — Seeking musicians, especially strings and keyboards, for the volunteer orchestra. Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra — Auditions for regular and substitute players in the upcoming 2015/2016 concert season are being held. There are openings for strings (violin, viola, and cello), substitute brass, and percussion. Audition requirements are one solo piece and one orchestral excerpt of your choice. The orchestra performs four series of two concerts each year at Cuyahoga Community College and at other venues in the Greater Cleveland area. The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra — Auditions will be held at Severance Hall during the month of may, with late-afternoon, evening, and weekend audition times available. Middle- and high-school student imstrumentalists, who are studying privately and involved in their school music program, are invited to auditions. Auditions will be heard for the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, flute, piccolo, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, contrabassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, tuba, percussion, and keyboard instruments. Copley Community Chorus — Join Director Chuck Kobb and the Copley Community Chorus as they kick off a new season of music. Dobama Theatre — Is now accepting submissions from Cuyahoga County Students in grades 1-12 for the 38th Annuial Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival. Plays must be the original work of the student submitting them. The play can be in any genre: comedy, drama, mystery, fantasy or wherever the imagination leads the playwright. Plays written by 1-6 graders should be no longer than 10 minutes when read aloud. Plays written by 7-12 graders should be no longer than 20 minutes when read aloud. Submission deadline is Tuesday. Laurel Lake Encore Chorale — Seeking adults age 55 and older to join the 50-member chorale that performs a large range of musical styles. Participation is open to the public. Master Singers Choral of Northeast Ohio — Any interested area singers age 18 or older, are invited to attend a rehearsal to observe the group in action. No auditions are required to join but a strong commitment to attend rehearsals and perform in three annually scheduled concerts are encouraged. Tuscarawas Philharmonic Chorus — Area singers high school age and up are invited to join the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Chorus in preparation for “Reverberations!” to be performed with the orchestra on April 23. Rehearsals will be held at the Performing Arts Center, Kent State Tuscarawas in the second floor rehearsal room. Rehearsals will be Saturdays, 10 a.m. to noon, and Sundays, 2 to 4 p.m. Singers may choose a combination of dates to suit their own schedules. Dates of rehearsals are Feb. 27-28, March 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26 (no rehearsal Easter Sunday), and April 2-3, 9-10, and 16-17. Scores will be available for purchase at rehearsal for $12. Weathervane Playhouse — Is accepting submissions to its annual 10-minute play festival. The deadline for entries is midnight on Friday, May 13, 2016. Play finalists will be announced on May 27, 2016. Each of the eight finalists will receive a full production of his or her play – performed by volunteer actors – and two complimentary tickets to 8x10 TheatreFest. All applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of submissions and administrative fee, notification of 8 finalist plays, preceding TheatreFest and notification of winners, following the conclusion of TheatreFest.
