Ticket time. Time to purchase your tickets for the 9th annual Art & Ale beer tasting at the Akron Art Museum. The event will be March 11 and there will be more than 20 breweries this year — including Thirsty Dog, Ohio, Hoppin’ Frog and Canton — as well as ciders and meads. Food will be provided by Lucky Penny Creamery, Old Carolina Barbecue Co., Sweet Mary’s Bakery and Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar. Advance tickets are $35 for members, $50 for nonmembers. Black History Month. To celebrate Black History Month, North High School in Akron is offering a special event Friday. Festivities begin with an assembly at 5 p.m. in the school’s auditorium that will include speeches and poems and a short film. At 7 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria there will be “Taste of Soul,” with food catered by LA Soul of Akron. The school is at 985 Gorge Blvd. “Taste of Soul” tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students.

Beer festival. The Ohio Craft Brewers Association will host its annual Winter Warmer Fest from 2 to 6 p.m. March 5 at Windows on the River, 2000 Sycamore St., Cleveland. The event will showcase more than 40 Ohio breweries and will feature live music and food. Tickets are $45 in advance or $55 at the door. VIP tickets are $85.
