Area dealerships and the city of Green celebrated collaboration known as the Green Auto Mile, located on the stretch of Arlington Road between 1-77 and Sate Route 619 .

The completion of $12 million project included widening Arlington Road, updating the intersection of Route 619 and Arlington and rerouting Jarvis Road.

The city hosted a three day celebration, which began Thursday and ended on Saturday with a “Grand Slam” community event to commemorate the collaboration.

Events included a classic car show, mascot meet and greets, live music and contests.

The new Green Auto mile is now home to six dealerships -- Doug Chevrolet, Fred Martin Nissan, Lexus of Akron/Canton, Park Auto Group, Ron Marhofer Hyundai and Toth Buick GMC. These dealers offer 10 major domestic and imported brands.

“The auto dealers and the City of Green are all very excited about this new collaboration,” said Mayor Dick Norton in a press release. “Each dealership is in walking distance of each other as well as in close proximity to retail shopping centers, restaurants, hotels and a movie theatre. I believe this will validate the Green Auto Mile as THE place to shop for a new or used car in the greater Akron/Canton area,” he said.
