The 31st season of Music from The Western Reserve begins this Sunday with violinist Yang Zeng, reports the Stow Sentry.
Zeng, the 2013-2014 featured young artist for the season, is an accomplished musician and student at Kent State, where he is involved in several chamber music ensembles. He is currently the principle second violin for Mansfield Symphony, concertmaster in the Kent State University Orchestra, and a member of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Last year, Zeng received the Leopold Sip Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Performance, and also won the String Division of the Tuesday Musical Competition.
Zeng is from Yunnan China, and has been studying violin since the age of six.
The concert will begin at 5 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, located on 21 Aurora St. in Hudson.
The Hudson Community Foundation is sponsoring the concert.
Anyone interested in attending can purchase tickets at the door, or at the Learned Owl. Adult tickets are $18, and student tickets are free.
